For me as a non-architectural historian, it was a surprise to be asked to join the editorial board of the Bulletin KNOB. I am a historian and archaeologist working in Cultural Studies at the UvA and as an endowed professor in Landscape History at the RUG. My research focusing on architecture is mostly on country houses and castles, but also on a topic like the history of demolition of historical buildings in Amsterdam.
For KNOB, I will deal with 'green' architectural contributions - on parks, gardens and garden ornaments - but I also look forward to editing articles on very different topics. I find any form or expression of architecture interesting (which is not the same as beautiful) - from interiors and museum buildings to brutalist architecture. The same goes for theoretical literature on the experience of space and on architecture as a place of memory or as an expression of social relations.
