Rika Devos
Within our research group, the Bulletin KNOB is considered an important reference for architectural and construction history in the Netherlands and Belgium. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when I was invited to join the editorial board of the journal, although with the disclaimer that I have more interest than knowledge of the specific Dutch context. I am a senior lecturer in construction and architectural history at the Ecole Polytechnique of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and therefore work in both the Flemish and Walloon academic contexts. I hope this will allow me to develop a broader geographical view, including within Bulletin KNOB.
I am a civil engineer architect (UGent) and wrote my PhD thesis on the Modern architecture of Expo 58 (UGent). Since then, my research developed on two tracks: world exhibitions on the one hand and Belgian construction history in the twentieth century on the other. Both interests start from architecture and construction. I mainly research themes that bring architecture and construction history together: historical collaboration; bureaucracy and administration of construction; tools and materials; training and knowledge transfer and the challenges of the archive.

Frederik Vandyck
As a young researcher and substitute lecturer in architectural history, I greatly appreciate the invitation to join the editorial board of the Bulletin KNOB and thus contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on spatial heritage. My special interest lies in the actors and actions that drive the process of spatial creation. In my doctoral thesis, I investigated the historical relationship between economic development and urban structure in the Brussels Capital Region, with a focus on construction companies in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From that experience, and together with some new colleagues on the editorial board, it is my ambition to anchor the Bulletin even more firmly in the Flemish-Brussels landscape.
